I live in a country where people hate music of other languages like Korean, English (okay, they accept English a bit cuz it’s an universal language), etc
So somewhat relatable happened with me in my online school where it was my vocal class and because of these summer breaks, it was our first day of the school.
At the start of the class, my teacher was talking about KPOP with his students and the way they said that they hate those different language music just got my attention!
He asked me to sing something and I told him that I cannot sing because I don’t remember any song lyrics (but the reason was, I didn’t wanted to sing an English song or a KPOP song)
Okay, I understand that he is a classical singer so he won’t be into pop songs but that doesn’t make sense at all!
He told me to sing the school song then and my expressions became disgusted unless I said no and told him about the song which I am actually learning.
I, first, introduced the song, ‘This song is called stack it up and it is actually English but is sung by Koreans so I liked it and I am preparing it’.
No sooner than he said that he would try to bear with the music, it made me disgusted.
Finally, I have finished my song because I knew only one verse of it, he told told me to sing songs that makes audience feel that you are a good singer.
The verse which I sang says that: I got dreams and I got time, but that isn’t enough to get me by. Cause I have dreams for you and I, yeah I got money on my mind. So if you wanna stack it up, man, you gotta work for it yeah I got money on my mind. I-I, I-I I got money on my mind (x2)
Because the song was good enough, everyone started grooving with it along with my second vocal trainer and then I got that worse feedback.
I told myself not to get angry and till the time my classmate sang the same time of song but the worst than mines. Okay it was a 90s song and so probably it was a love song but just because she was the 5th member of the chorus group, he said that you
My thoughts started running wild at 2:50pm when my online school was over. I started searching things about the song like for what age group is Stack it up for ? Is Stack It Up song for kids or teens?
But every time google gave me the same answer that it is for all age groups.
And I realised that my vocal trainer is a music lover but he hates the music of different countries except English because it is an universal language. Doesn’t make sense right?
I started cursing my choice that why did I even choose this school where there are people full of the racism emotion.
I am really sorry to say this but I am now thinking that my country and its people except my family and friends is the worst country in the world! Because this country this country is full of racists.
