I really appreciate gazing up at the clouds on a warm summer day since they are not your typical little, easily blown-away clouds. These are cumulonimbus clouds, which are also referred to as thunderheads. Summer thunderstorms are often brought on by the heat of the day, but they frequently disclose and display the enormous white massive puffiness of these enormous white clouds beforehand. Sometimes, I’ve seen these clouds assume the form of something that would look like a huge castle, building, or destination. Other times, I’ve seen them reveal what might look like a huge peak or even an angel with wings spread wide. I generally encounter these clouds in the summer, and I always find them to be rather fascinating and enjoyable to observe.

These clouds are so amazing to me that at times I’ve imagined them to be so soft that you could lay down on them and fall asleep, or perhaps they resemble enormous portions of mashed potatoes or whipped cream. So all I had to do was snap a few photos to capture the appearance of some of these clouds.

Thunderheads in the West

The fact that thunderheads frequently have mushroom-shaped cloud structures and are either white or, depending on how the sun is shining, an off-white color may make them appear lovely. However, these clouds are extremely dangerous since they frequently signal the impending arrival of a severe thunderstorm. And who can foresee summer thunderstorms or showers, since these clouds occasionally may cover the entire sky and make it appear black, so for my own safety, I leap from the pool and dash downstairs to my apartment. Moments later, nothing happens, the sun begins to shine, the clouds part, and the blue skies are once more visible.

There have been times when I have believed that I have seen heaven or something heavenly. For example, sometimes huge white clouds gather together to resemble a path for angels to travel on, or perhaps a ray of sunlight peeks through a group of clouds to reveal what appears to be a path leading to heaven. I’ve started to notice how frequently these lovely cloudscapes are utilized in the classic cartoons to signify heaven or the dream world. These kinds of cloudscapes can also be found in Florida’s mild environment near the beaches or on the venerable TV series Flipper. Another excellent example of a cloudscape is when you’re in an airplane, far above the clouds, and you look out the window and see a large group of white clouds that appear to be a location you might stroll onto or simply relax on. Or occasionally, when the sun was shining in just the right manner, I caught the most beautiful scenery while flying through those enormous white clouds that were grouped together in the sky. This is demonstrated towards the very end of Jurassic Park 3 when the Pteranadons fly over the clouds in search of a new home. That is a truly cool and unique thing.

Personally, I would adore a DVD with nothing but cloudscapes, with soothing music playing in the background as you fly through the sky on a sunny day and take in the massive banks of white puffy clouds. Oh, and while I know that it is accomplished by airplanes emitting special smoke in the sky to form the letters of the message, I still appreciate the sight of sky writing that strangely and abruptly appears in the blue sky. Even though the messages are typically brief, I can generally identify them as coming from King Kullen, an insurance provider, or even one of those “put your ad here” communications. Nevertheless, it’s amazing to watch this. The nicest part is that, occasionally after a summer shower, when the sun comes out, you might be able to see a rainbow in the sky. However, rainbows rarely appear after summer showers and rarely remain for very long. But when the sun comes out after it has rained, I become thrilled and prepare my camera to take a picture. I then carefully scan the sky for the rainbow, but it doesn’t appear. However, if there is just the proper amount of moisture in the air, I’ve occasionally seen those full rainbow circles develop around the sun, or maybe just a vibrant rainbow blur.

I did succeed in taking a picture of a rainbow in the sky, but I can’t believe it took me until August to do it considering how many times I tried to take pictures of it over the summer but failed, but I persisted.
