I want you to think about a time when you got some guidance that you really needed. Whichever circumstance you found yourself in, you must own that the counsel affected you. If everything went well, you undoubtedly felt rejuvenated and prepared to take on your challenges. What changes do you observe between the person you were prior to obtaining this guidance and the person you are now, please?
You might realize that you are the same person, but seeing things from a different angle, right? Think about how this perspective helped you move past self-destruction and toward advancement. Adversity might be overcome with only a mental shift in perspective—everything else stayed the same. The ability to maintain perspective is crucial when facing challenges.
It’s the difference between life happening to you and life happening for you. I’ll go a step farther and say it’s the distinction between fulfillment and stagnation. But this brings me to my second query: can you do it for yourself as well, or should you wait for better viewpoints from others?
Doing this for yourself is challenging, but not impossible. This is an internal quest, so any solutions must be found within. You must put self-pity aside and study adversity both subjectively and objectively if you want to dive deeper. Your attention will be drawn to everything that cannot be changed, but you need to focus more on what can. This is the way through adversity: there will be many questions, but there will also be many answers.
I’ll leave you with these words from Inky Johnson: Performance is influenced by perspective every day of the week. Your actions will always be influenced by how you view them.
I want you to take away from this the following:
You have a lens inside of you through which you view the universe and the small portion of it that has been given to you. If your perspective isn’t valuable, change it. The Universe’s attention is redirected through this prism from what it is for itself to what it means to you. I can’t tell you whether or not this lens is good for you, but you may decide for yourself by looking at the benefits it offers.
Does this viewpoint, this lens, work well for you? My buddy, you need to view life from a different viewpoint if you have to lie to yourself to get through the day, if you have to be mean to yourself without good reason, or if you can’t take being by yourself without something to occupy your time. In order to feel more admiration for yourself, you must change your emphasis to one that benefits you and helps you see the worth in hardship. We might lament the presence of thorns on rose bushes or we can be glad because thorns also bear roses. His Alphonse Karr
Also, look outside of yourself for solutions. The most crucial choice we make, in Albert Einstein’s opinion, is whether we think the universe is friendly or hostile. If you give it some serious thought, you’ll see that you tend to view the universe in terms of how it impacts you rather than how it actually is.
But what if you could combine these two to make things easier to understand? What if you took an objective view on the situation as well to gain a whole picture? The surface area of your thoughts is increased by this straightforward practice, which, despite its seeming insignificance, enables you to think more broadly and see farther. By this process, you will improve your comprehension, which will better equip you to face any adversity that may come your way. “In life, there’s nothing to be afraid of. All that is required is understanding. – Mme. Curie
It’s your perspective that gets you through. – You know that life is unpredictable if you’ve lived long enough? Both good and unpleasant things can happen when you least expect them. Although Life is a force beyond our ability to change, we do have some influence over how Life impacts us.
Despite being forced into our hands, we mold it to fit our reality. If you get out of your own brain and quit feeling sorry for yourself, you can accomplish it. In order to make a situation worse than it already is, take away everything you add to it. Take a look at what you can control and make use of it to guide you in the right direction. Adversity might not seem like much, but it will make you stronger and enable you to live life on your terms. “When there is enormous willingness, there cannot be great challenges.” Niccolo Machiavelli
Every person has a perspective on life. Consider the implications for your own life. Your point of view has an impact on how you act, communicate, make decisions, feel about yourself, and most importantly, how other people see you.
Your choice of perspective affects how you feel about life. You can’t live life to the fullest if you have a pessimistic outlook. A better one would advise you on when to exercise caution and when to fully commit. Adversity will always come your way in life, but you always have the choice of whether to see it as a challenge or an opportunity. I’m sure you’ll always find room for improvement for both yourself and others if you select the latter. “May each and every day of your life be filled with joy.” Mr. Jonathan Swift
